CarouselBloc — hero banners that move.

Seven transition effects, rich text overlays, audience targeting, and Ken Burns pan-and-zoom — all from a SharePoint list.

Overview

CarouselBloc turns any SharePoint list into a polished hero banner carousel. Choose from seven transition effects — slide, fade, cube, coverflow, flip, cards, and creative — and layer rich text overlays with precise positioning on top of each slide.

Audience targeting lets you show different banners to different groups based on AD group membership or user profile properties. The Ken Burns effect adds cinematic pan-and-zoom motion to static images, making every banner feel alive.

Under the hood, CarouselBloc uses a 3-layer caching strategy for fast loads, a built-in diagnostics panel for troubleshooting, and dynamic filter rules to control which slides appear based on date ranges, metadata, or user context.

See transitions in motion
The carousel cycles through slides using your chosen effect — slide, fade, cube, coverflow, flip, cards, or creative. Each transition is GPU-accelerated for smooth animation.

Configure effects and overlays
Admins pick a transition effect, set autoplay speed, position text overlays, and define audience targeting rules — all in the property pane.

We built CarouselBloc because our internal comms team was asking for hero banners that could target different audiences — and the OOTB Hero web part couldn't do it. Now they manage 30+ banners from a single list and each department sees what's relevant to them.

We replaced three separate banner solutions with CarouselBloc. The Ken Burns effect made our intranet homepage look like it had a design team behind it, and the diagnostics panel saved our IT support hours of troubleshooting targeting issues.

What does CarouselBloc do?
CarouselBloc displays a rotating hero banner carousel on any SharePoint modern page. Slides are managed in a SharePoint list and rendered with configurable transition effects, text overlays, and audience targeting.
How does deployment work?
CarouselBloc ships as a .sppkg package. Upload it to your tenant app catalog, approve the Sites.Read.All permission, and add the web part to any modern page. Point it at a SharePoint list containing your slide data.
What permissions are required?
Sites.Read.All is required to read slide data from SharePoint lists. No additional Graph permissions are needed unless audience targeting uses AD group membership.
What can I configure?
Transition effect, autoplay speed, Ken Burns toggle, overlay positioning, navigation style (arrows, dots, progress bar), audience targeting rules, filter expressions, and cache TTL. All through the property pane — no code needed.
How does it compare to the built-in Hero web part?
The OOTB Hero web part is static — no autoplay, no transitions, no audience targeting, and limited layout options. CarouselBloc adds 7 animation effects, list-driven content management, audience targeting, and a fully customizable presentation layer.
